Why your photos arrive out of order
It is not you. Every app has opinions about order. None of them asked yours.
WhatsApp re-sorts a batch by capture date before it sends, not by the order you tapped. Whatever sequence you chose in the picker is gone by the time it reaches the chat.
iMessage
The iOS Photos picker hands your selection to Messages in library order, so tapping carefully changes nothing. The shuffle is visible before you even hit send, and it has been reported across many iOS versions.
Android
Gallery and Files pass the batch to the share sheet in whatever order the system keeps, usually by date. The app on the receiving end then sorts it again by its own rules.

Why do my photos arrive out of order?
Messaging apps re-sort a batch of images before sending, usually by capture date, and the receiving app may sort them again. The order you tapped is not preserved. PicOrder puts the number inside the picture itself, so the intended sequence stays readable regardless of how the photos end up arranged.
Does PicOrder change my original photos?
No. PicOrder works on copies. Your originals stay exactly as they are in your library.
Can I hide the numbers?
Yes. Turn numbers off and the photos still export with sequential filenames and timestamps, which is often enough on its own.
Do you collect any of my data?
Not from the app. Your photos are numbered on your device and are never uploaded, and the app itself contains no analytics. Its only network requests go to the App Store or Google Play to check your subscription — those never include your photos. This website is separate: it can use analytics cookies to count page visits, but only if you agree on the banner, and they never touch your photos.
Do I need to install anything?
No. PicOrder for web runs in your browser on any device and does the same job. The iPhone and Android apps add the system share sheet, so you can send straight into WhatsApp or Messages.
Does it work on Android?
Yes. PicOrder runs on Android and iPhone, and the web version works in any modern browser, including Chrome on Android.
